Potter Group Logistics has secured a two year contract extension with animal health firm Elanco, logisticsmanager.com reports.
Elanco, a division of Eli Lilly and Company, chose Potter Group Logistics after the firm invested in new temperature control infrastructure and material handling equipment at its distribution centre in Knoweley.
The expansion involved bringing in new counter balance and flexi trucks, as well as extending the original racking in the designated warehouse by over 500 locations.
The original contract saw Potter Group tasked with handling 8,000 pallets for the animal health company, which it prepared for distribution to the worldwide market. The extension will see Potter Group tasked with a further 4,000 pallets, taking the total to 12,000.
In order to help fulfil the extra workload, Potter Group may soon be looking to logistics recruitment for their brace of extra staff needed for the expansion.
Speaking to mhwmagazine.co.uk of the contract, managing director of Potter Group Matthew Lamb explained: "Besides our knowledge and experience, one of the main reasons for Elanco choosing us as a service provider was the location of our specialist DC (Distribution Centre).
"Elanco was looking for an expert in controlled logistics for pharmaceutical products close to its manufacturing centre of excellence in Speke. Our DC in Knowsley is ideally positioned in relation to their centre and has all the right credentials to handle the business."
