Parking mad!

If you want to reduce your chances of being handed a parking fine avoid, Newcastle on a Saturday or Plymouth on a Tuesday.
According to research released by car leasing experts, UK Carline, those are the days of the week when most tickets are issued in those two UK cities.

They’ve both made it into the top ten parking fine hotspots in the UK. Topping the table is the London Borough of Brent where over half a million tickets were issued between 2014 and 2017, earning the local council a handsome return of well over £53m in collected fines!

Looking at the bigger picture, across the whole of the UK, that figure looks like small beer. Over the past three years a breathtaking 2,752,900 parking tickets were issued. That cost drivers £275m in fines. And don’t think you can get away with it at a weekend. Saturdays and Sundays are in fact the busiest days for tickets being issued.

If you found a ticket tucked under your windscreen wiper in October 2016 then you can take some small comfort in the fact that you weren’t alone. For some unfathomable reason, that month saw the highest number of parking tickets issued over the whole three period covered by the survey.
