The 2011 MAN Everywoman in Transport & Logistics Awards are set to open for entries on December 1st, reports MHW Magazine.
The awards, open to all women in the UK working within the transport or logistics industries, identifies positive role models and celebrates their success in a range of diverse categories. The awards are designed to contradict the commonly perceived notion that women do not get the same opportunities within these markets.
The director of Everywoman, the company behind the awards, said "We've made strides to identify the positive female role models within the industry - not many females realise the wealth of career opportunities available. We look forward to continuing to re-address the balance with this year's finalists." It is hoped the awards will provoke more females to apply for logistics companies jobs and driving jobs.
Perhaps the awards' most prestigious trophy, the Woman of the Year award is given to a dedicated, passionate individual who has proven herself to be a role model through an innovative attitude, vision and approach.
The ceremony will take place on May 4th 2011, in London, and is sponsored by a range of trade bodies and industry associations. Categories up for grabs include Commercial Driver of the Year, Rising Star of the Year, Team of the Year, Director of the Year and Industry Trainer of the Year. Reports Everywoman, the judges of the awards include logistics experts from all walks of life, who will pick their winners based on written supporting evidence, and testimonials from specially chosen referees.
