Gas works could hinder drivers in Lancashire

Those in driving jobs are being warned to expect "long delays" thanks to month-long roadworks in Lancashire, reports This Is Lancashire.

Supply workers may want to alter their routes through Lancashire in order to accommodate the gas works on Turton Road, Bromley Cross.

These works, between Bradshaw Brow and Ryeburn Drive, will be undertaken until September 2 as part a £7.5 million scheme to renew gas lines in the North West.

The road will be closed to traffic travelling into Bromley Cross from Bolton Road and Bradshaw Brow, according to the paper. Truckers working for supply firms should take not to advice issued by the publication, who claims that drivers will be asked to follow diversions along Tonge Moor Road, Crompton Way, Blackburn Road and Darwen Road.

Bolton Council has warned that they anticipate a "high level of disruption" while the works are carried out and that more works could be done over the next 12 months to improve the structure of the city's gas lines.

This follows reports last month from The Bolton News claiming that ongoing "gas mains renewal work" is part of a "wider £92 million package of improvements the National Grid is carrying out across the North West".
