The Ford Transit has been named the most reliable van on the market, scooping the title for the fourth consecutive year.
As Car and Van News reports, Ford's iconic Transit van topped a Fleet Magazine poll of the UK's 50 largest contract hire companies, which operate more than 1,000,000 vehicles between them.
The contract hire and leasing companies that took part in the survey all operate fleets made up of various different marques, and were asked to give models a rating based on breakdowns per 100 of each vehicle.
Ford's Transit came out on top, with the Transit Connect claiming third place for the second year running. In addition, Ford was voted the overall most reliable van manufacturer.
This news will be of great interest to logistics consultancy and supply chain firms looking at the best options for hiring driver's vehicles. Efficient, reliable vehicles help operators save considerable amounts of money and enable them to deliver high levels of service.
"Businesses that depend on vehicles take reliability very seriously, and can't afford downtime through breakdowns and incur extra costs," Fleet News editor Stephen Briers said in a statement.
"This is the largest reliability survey of its kind, so any vehicle with a top 10 placing will represent a safe bet for any organisation or private motorist," he added.
The annual FN50 reliability survey is regarded as the most comprehensive of its type, with a total of 840,000 cars and 183,000 light commercial vehicles covered by this year's study.
