Elemis buys warehouse space in Bristol

Driving jobs in the west-country could see a rise after skincare distributor Elemis signed a lease on a warehouse in Bristol.

The Poplar Park development in Severnside had filled all bar one of its warehouse spaces before Elemis snatched up the last.

Its acquisition is a 53,878-square-foot-space that Elemis signed with the help of a buyer - marketing firm CJP. Explained on its website, cjpltd.co.uk, the firm told how it secured the property "on a 15-year term at a rent of £6.50 per-square-foot with an extensive rent-free period."

The Poplar Park warehouse is set to be the new headquarters of Elemis, with the business consolidating both its London offices and distribution centre in Bridgewater into its new centre at Bristol.

Elemis' new neighbours include Robert Wiseman Dairies, Kuehne + Nagel, Honda and John Lewis, which also has warehouse space in the Poplar Park development.

Speaking to logisticsmanager.com, Andrew Ridler of Alder King - the company which marketed the property - explained how the signing of the deal was a significant one, as the property was the last brand new industrial building in the mid-sized range in the local market.

"There are no more brand new high-specification industrial/distribution buildings in the 10,000 square foot to 500,000 square foot size bracket left available on the market," he said.

"It reinforces the need for speculative development and may persuade those businesses with immediate requirements to go down the design and build route."
