DHL looks set to fill 950 jobs at its Morrisons distribution centre in Bridgewater.
The logistics firm announced three months ago that it would be taking on 350 new employees to runs its Morrisons distribution centre. Now, following a huge take up for the initial run, DHL has claimed that it could be looking at further logistics recruitment, seeking to fill a further 600 jobs in the coming months.
DHL's new venture in Bridgewater is set to deliver stock to around 60 Morrisons stores in Wales and the South West.
However, the roles are in high demand, with around 5,000 applying for the first run of vacancies.
"We're not only delighted by the high number of applicants from the Bridgewater area, but by their sheer enthusiasm, some having walked the entire length of Bridgewater to attend their interview," DHL operations director Bob Tanner told thisissomerset.co.uk.
"We are still in the early stages of recruitment but are hopeful that a large percentage of the successful applicants will come from Bridgewater and the wider Sedgemoor area."
Adding, group logistics and supply chain director for Morrisons Neal Austin told logisticsmanager.co.uk: "I am pleased to hear that there has been such a high level of interest in the variety of jobs that will become available at the distribution centre, particularly from those local to the area."
