Weekend at Truckfest 2010
05 August 2010
The Wilson Gibb franchises of Driver Hire were proud to be exhibiting once again at this years Truckfest Scotland on Saturday 31st July/ Sunday 1st August.
The general feeling was that 2010 was one of our most successful Truckfests to date, with numerous clients and drivers enjoying the hospitality and BBQ on our stand.
Indeed it was the generosity of the people visiting our stand and partaking in the hospitality that enabled us to raise £500 for Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres, so many thanks to everyone for their donations.
This year’s ‘celebrities’ were Kym Marsh (Coronation Street), Ricky Whittle (Hollyoaks/Strictly Come Dancing) and Alex Debogorski (Ice Road Truckers), and we were lucky enough to have them visit our stand over the weekend.
Alex the ice road trucker was a big fan of the free BBQ, and whilst Ricky managed to resist the charms of the Driver Hire girls, he did agree to pose for a few pictures (they'll no doubt be posted here at some stage).
Business wise, one of the big talking points of the weekend was the impact that people thought the drivers cpc would have on the industry, indeed we were offering a free to enter raffle for one lucky driver to win a days dcpc free of charge.
The lucky winner was Bobby Clyne from Selkirk and he will complete his training as part of our course on the 7th August covering Digital Tachographs and Drivers Welfare at our approved training facility in our Edinburgh office.
Our next dcpc course is booked for the 11th September - for further on this course or our Driver's CPC training please contact Rachael McWilliams on 0131 624 7711 or firstname.lastname@example.org
All in all, it was a great weekend and it was a great opportunity to relax with old friends and meet some familiar faces that we only ever see at Truckfest.
Roll on 2011 and you'll know where we'll be when Turckfest comes around...
