Driver CPC Training

dh Recruitment

For many years we have provided our drivers with training on the major issues of the day – from their working time or rest and breaks obligations, to fuel efficient driving. Now Driver Hire is one of the UK’s leading providers of Driver CPC training having trained some 7,000 drivers in a year.

The Driver CPC is for professional LGV and PCV drivers. It is designed to improve the knowledge and skills of drivers, and enhance safety on our roads, as a requirement of EU Directive 2003/59.

Existing LGV drivers benefit from ‘acquired rights’ and don’t have to take a fresh driving test. However, they must undertake 35 hours of periodic training before 10 September 2014 to keep their Driver CPC valid.

New LGV drivers gaining a category C, C1, C+E or C1+E licence now have to obtain the initial Driver CPC in addition to their licence to drive professionally. They must then undertake periodic training every 5 years to keep their Driver CPC valid. There are some exemptions but the Driver CPC is now compulsory for most professional drivers. Training must be undertaken in 7-hour blocks and the best way for any driver to meet their obligations is to spread their training across several years.

If you haven’t used Driver Hire before, you may also be wondering how to keep your fleet moving while your drivers are in training. Well, you’ve come to the right place. We’ll be delighted to supply high quality drivers to cover for them.
