Paul Dyson - Grimsby

It's fair to say that Driver Hire attracts franchisees from a wide range of backgrounds and industries; acting, teaching, accountancy, the armed services and in Paul Dyson’s case – the police force.

When Paul, a senior police officer, retired from the Lincolnshire constabulary, he wanted a new challenge. He liked the idea of franchising and, as you’d expect, made the necessary investigations to find which one suited him best. What he rapidly discovered is that, in the franchise world, Driver Hire is at the forefront.

“What really sold it to me was the enthusiasm, professionalism and total lack of negativity from all the people I spoke to,” says Paul. “They were also forward thinking in a challenging environment.”

Whilst moving from the police to running your own recruitment business is a substantial leap, Paul found that many of the skills he’d learnt in the force, transferred to commerce. “It’s still about dealing with people and solving problems,” says Paul. “The skill I’ve had to work at most is selling. But again, like police work, it’s about asking the right questions.”

He’s obviously learning fast because his Grimsby franchise continues to go from strength to strength. “Nearly two years down the line I continue to enjoy outstanding backup from Driver Hire. They don’t just take their franchise fee and leave you to get on with it. Any problems are quickly sorted. And I’d be hard-pressed to come across an organisation that puts so much effort into new initiatives and helping their franchisees develop new business. There’s definitely a feeling that we’re all pulling together.”
