David Quinn - Chelmsford

Before joining Driver Hire, David Quinn had worked in a sales role within leading truck dealerships. He first came across the idea of franchising through his brother who runs a successful contract cleaning franchise. “I wanted my own business so I could benefit directly from the effort I was putting in. Because of my background I was looking for something with a road transport connection,” says David. “A Driver Hire franchise fitted the bill perfectly.”

He’s now got three full years’ trading under his belt and has since brought his wife Gina into the business to work alongside him. “Although trading conditions are tougher than when I started, there are still plenty of opportunities to make money with Driver Hire,” David comments. “For instance, this year we’ve done well with permanent placements, all of which helps add to our profit. We’re busy building customer relationships across the board, something that will really pay dividends when the economy picks up.”

David discovered another good reason for franchising in his first year of operation. “One of my drivers hit a bridge and damaged his vehicle in the process,” David recalls. “If I’d been on my own, I would have had nowhere to turn for help. But I phoned Head Office and they were brilliant. Their Compliance Officer drove down straight away and helped me sort things out with the client, the owner of the bridge and all the relevant authorities. You can’t put a price on that kind of support.”
